3M Double Coated Tape 9737 red is a double-sided tape mounted on a thin polyester carrier with a pressure-sensitive acrylic adhesive that provides a balance of high initial adhesion and good holding power. This tape has a thickness of 3.5 mil and is mounted on a 55 lbs. densified kraft paper liner, facilitating easy release and manipulation during application. It exhibits excellent temperature performance, capable of withstanding up to 300°F/149°C in the short term and up to 260°F/127°C for days or weeks, although results may vary depending on machine and web tensions, line speeds, nature of paper surface, and application pressure. The tape adheres well to kraft and coated papers, making it suitable for high-performance splicing on paper, films, and other continuous web processes. Recommended applications include high-speed flying splices, zero-speed splices, core starting, and splicing films, foils, and corrugated paper.
