The 3M™ Attest™ Super Rapid Readout Biological Indicator 1492V is a self-contained biological indicator designed for rapid and reliable qualification testing and routine monitoring of dynamic air removal steam sterilization processes at 270°F (132°C) and 275°F (135°C), specifically when used with the 3M™ Attest™ Autoreader 490 or the 3M™ Attest™ Auto-Reader 490H with software version 4.2.7 or greater. This indicator includes a carrier with Geobacillus stearothermophilus spores and a media ampoule containing bacteriological media, both housed in a plastic vial with a brown cap. A chemical process indicator on the cap changes color from pink to light brown or darker upon exposure to steam. After processing, the biological indicator must be incubated in the 3M™ Attest™ Auto-Reader, providing a final negative reading after the specified incubation period to indicate an acceptable sterilization process. Results are available in 24 minutes when incubated in the 490 or 490H models, with the indicator capable of detecting sterilization conditions of 132°C (270°F) in 3 or 4 minutes and 135°C (275°F) in 3 minutes. This product meets ISO and FDA performance requirements for biological indicators and contains viable organisms that provide a direct measure of lethality, thereby enhancing instrument turnaround speed for improved patient safety.
