The Shop-Vac® 16 gallon, 3.0 peak HP Contractor Series vacuum features a two-stage long life motor designed for vacuuming materials such as dirt, debris, nails, metal and wood chips, and liquids. The vacuum is constructed with a poly material and utilizes a foam/paper disc/collection bag filter type. Although the term "peak horsepower" (PHP) is commonly used for consumer comparison, it does not indicate the operational horsepower during typical use. The vacuum has a CFM (cubic feet per minute) measurement that represents the quantity of air moved by the motor at a specific system load, which can be influenced by hose type, size, length, accessory tools, and filter systems; regular maintenance of filters is necessary to ensure efficient suction and air flow. The SP (sealed pressure) suction pressure indicates the maximum height a vacuum motor can lift a column of water, measured in inches, with maximum suction occurring at zero air flow. Additionally, vacuum performance, or air power, is defined by the balance between suction and air flow at a given operating point, which can be negatively affected by dirty filters, leaks, and the use of attachments.
