Made of non-woven material with added stiffness, the Standard Abrasives™ Buff and Blend HP Disc produces an aggressive cut and is designed for applications such as removal of burrs or tough contaminants. It features lightweight deburring capabilities and is effective for light deburring and aggressive cleaning on various metal substrates, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, aluminum, high nickel, and stainless steel. The tough nylon web ensures sustained performance and a consistent finish on the workpiece, resulting in minimal rework. The very fine (VFN) grade abrasive contributes to a clean finish, while the aluminum oxide mineral cuts sharp and is friable, fragmenting under heat and pressure to reveal sharp cutting edges during use. Among the four Standard Abrasives™ Buff and Blend materials, HP material is moderately stiff, durable, and aggressive, making it suitable for deburring applications. Its non-woven construction adapts to contours and extrusions, minimizing gouging or marring of the part. Discs may also be ganged on a shaft to form a wheel. The HP disc efficiently accommodates edges and extrusions, making it ideal for removing part lines from small castings, small burrs from threaded pipes, burrs from aluminum extrusions or die cast flashing, and heavy surface oxidation. Its durability ensures a long service life, reducing replacement needs, while the robust material minimizes edge fraying and grain shedding. For heavier-duty applications, upgrading to one of the Standard Abrasives™ Buff and Blend High Strength (HS) discs is recommended. Quick change discs are available separately.
