The E71T-GS self flux-core welding wire for mild steel is designed for all-position welding and is particularly effective for single pass applications that require high travel speed, featuring a pink color coding on the label. This wire does not require shielding gas, operates best with a recommended polarity of DCEN straight, and comes in a weight of 2 lbs. (0.907 kg) with a diameter of 0.03 inches. With a tensile strength of 79,000 psi, this self-shielded flux-core wire is suitable for welding on rusty, dirty, and painted materials. It produces moderate to low spatter, and using an argon/CO2 mix can further reduce spatter. The wire runs hotter than solid wires, making it particularly well-suited for applications requiring high travel speed.
