The Merit Chrome Plated Brass Schedule 40 Nipple measures 2 x 5-1/2 NPT male and is crafted from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. This chrome plated red brass nipple is easier to machine, less brittle, and significantly more resistant to corrosion than yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, in addition to withstanding attack from salt water, acids, and minerals as well as peaty soils in water. Primarily designed for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, this brass nipple can also be used in oil, gas, and steam applications. Its chrome plated finish ensures ease of cleaning, minimizes dirt and bacteria attraction, and maintains a shiny appearance.
