The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/4 x 4-1/2 NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are designed for enhanced machinability, reduced brittleness, and significantly improved resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, as they will not dezincify. Brass is known for its good corrosion resistance against water, heat, salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils, making it suitable primarily for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, as well as in oil, gas, and steam applications.
