The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 3/4 x 3-1/2 NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. This product features a chrome plated finish that enhances its machinability, reduces brittleness, and significantly increases corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, which is prone to dezincification. The brass material provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, as well as against salt water, acids, and minerals found in peaty soils. While primarily utilized for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plated finish allows for easy cleaning, prevents dirt and bacteria accumulation, and ensures a lasting shiny aesthetic.
