The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 3/8 x 9 NPT male and is constructed from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples provide enhanced machinability, reduced brittleness, and superior corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, as they will not dezincify. The brass material offers good corrosion resistance against water and heat, as well as resistance to attack from salt water, acids, and minerals, including peaty soils found in water. Primarily utilized in commercial plumbing and OEM applications for water, brass nipples are also suitable for use in oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plated finish makes these nipples easy to clean, prevents the attraction of dirt and bacteria, and helps maintain a shiny appearance.
