The Merit chrome plated brass Schedule 40 nipple measures 1/2 inch by 10 inches and features NPT male threads. It is produced from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230, which is easier to machine, less brittle, and more resistant to corrosion than yellow brass, with no dezincification. The chrome plating provides a shiny finish that is easy to clean and does not attract dirt or bacteria. Brass offers good resistance to corrosion from water and heat, as well as protection against salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils. This product is suitable for commercial plumbing, OEM applications, and also for oil, gas, and steam systems.
