The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1 x 4 inches with NPT male threading and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and more resistant to corrosion than yellow brass, as they do not dezincify. Brass offers good corrosion resistance to water and heat and resists attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils contained in water. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, these nipples are also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating provides a shiny finish that is easy to clean and does not attract dirt or bacteria.
