The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1 x 2-1/2 NPT male and is manufactured from seamless red brass pipe (alloy 230). This type of chrome plated red brass is easier to machine, less brittle during handling, and exhibits superior corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, effectively preventing dezincification. It offers good corrosion resistance against water and heat, while also resisting attack from salt water, acids, and minerals, including those found in peaty soils. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, brass nipples are also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating on these brass nipples ensures they are easy to clean, do not attract dirt or bacteria, and maintain a shiny finish.
