The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple has a dimension of 1 inch with close NPT male threading. It is manufactured from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230, which provides improved machinability and reduced brittleness compared to yellow brass, making it more resistant to corrosion (will not dezincify). This brass material offers excellent corrosion resistance against water and heat, and it effectively resists damage from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils present in water. While primarily utilized for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. Additionally, chrome plated brass nipples are favored for their ease of cleaning, resistance to attracting dirt and bacteria, and ability to maintain a shiny finish.
