The Merit chrome plated brass Schedule 40 nipple measures 1/4 inch by 5 inches with NPT male threads. It is produced from seamless red brass pipe, specifically Alloy 230. This chrome plated red brass nipple offers enhanced machinability, reduced brittleness, and superior corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. The brass material provides good resistance to corrosion from water and heat, and it withstands attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, this chrome plated brass nipple is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications.
