The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple features a 1/4 x 5-1/2 NPT male configuration and is crafted from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are designed to provide superior machinability and reduced brittleness compared to yellow brass, along with enhanced resistance to corrosion, preventing dezincification. Brass is recognized for its excellent corrosion resistance in various environments, including water, heat, salt water, acids, and minerals found in peaty soils. This material is primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, in addition to oil, gas, and steam services.
