The Merit Chrome Plated Brass Schedule 40 Nipple measures 1-1/4 inches by 4-1/2 inches with NPT male connections. This nipple is constructed from seamless Red Brass Pipe, alloy 230, providing improved machinability and enhanced resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. The brass material offers good corrosion resistance against water and heat and is resistant to salt water, acids, and minerals found in peaty soils. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, this nipple is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating gives the nipple ease of cleaning, minimizes dirt and bacteria attraction, and maintains a shiny finish.
