The Merit chrome plated brass Schedule 40 nipple measures 3/8 x 10 NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, known as Alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and offer superior corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, as they do not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, and resists attacks from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, this material is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating makes the brass nipples easy to clean, prevents the attraction of dirt and bacteria, and helps maintain a shiny finish.
