The Merit chrome plated brass Schedule 40 nipple measures 1/2 x 3-1/2 inches NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, Alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and more corrosion resistant than yellow brass, as they will not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance to water and heat and resists attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils in water. It is primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, as well as oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating on the brass nipples makes them easy to clean, prevents dirt and bacteria attraction, and maintains a shiny finish.
