The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1 inch by 11 NPT Male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230. This chrome plated red brass nipple is easier to machine, less brittle, and more resistant to corrosion than yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance to water and heat, and resists attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils contained in water. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, brass is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating makes the nipple easy to clean, prevents dirt and bacterial attraction, and maintains a shiny finish.
