The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 3/8 x 6-1/2 NPT male and is constructed from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are engineered for enhanced machinability and reduced brittleness, providing superior corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, which can experience dezincification. Brass is known for its good resistance to corrosion from water, heat, salt water, acids, and minerals found in peaty soils. While primarily employed in commercial plumbing and OEM applications for water, it is also suitable for use in oil, gas, and steam applications.
