The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/2 x 9-1/2 NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and exhibit greater resistance to corrosion compared to yellow brass, avoiding dezincification. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, as well as resistance to salt water, acids, and minerals found in peaty soils. The primary applications are in plumbing for water in commercial and OEM settings, though they are also suitable for use with oil, gas, and steam. The chrome plating enhances ease of cleaning, prevents the attraction of dirt and bacteria, and helps maintain a shiny finish.
