The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1-1/4 x 3 NPT male and is constructed from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples exhibit superior machinability, reduced brittleness, and enhanced corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, as they will not dezincify. Brass itself provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat, while also resisting attacks from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. This material is primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, but it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications.
