The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1-1/2 inches by close NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle to work with, and offer superior corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, as they will not dezincify. Brass provides good resistance to corrosion from water and heat, and resists attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. This brass nipple is primarily used for water applications in commercial plumbing and OEM settings, and is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating enhances ease of cleaning, prevents the attraction of dirt and bacteria, and helps maintain a shiny finish.
