The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/2 inch by 6-1/2 inches with NPT male threads. It is manufactured from seamless red brass pipe, identified as Alloy 230, which is easier to machine, less brittle, and more corrosion-resistant than yellow brass, resisting dezincification. This brass material offers excellent resistance to corrosion from water and heat and withstands attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. Primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating on the brass nipple provides ease of cleaning, prevents dirt and bacteria accumulation, and maintains a shiny finish.
