The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/8 x 3-1/2 inches with NPT male threading. These chrome plated brass nipples are manufactured from seamless red brass pipe, identified as alloy 230, which provides enhanced machinability, reduced brittleness, and superior corrosion resistance compared to yellow brass, which is prone to dezincification. The brass material offers effective corrosion protection against water, heat, salt water, acids, and minerals found in peaty soils. This type of brass nipple is primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, but is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications.
