The Merit chrome plated brass Schedule 40 nipple measures 3/8 inch by 4-1/2 inches with NPT male threads. It is made from seamless red brass pipe, alloy 230, which is easier to machine, less brittle, and more corrosion resistant than yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. This brass offers good resistance to corrosion caused by water and heat, as well as salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. It is primarily used for water applications in commercial plumbing and OEM settings, but it is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating provides an easy-to-clean surface that resists dirt and bacteria while maintaining a shiny finish.
