The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/2 inch by 2 inches NPT male and is constructed from seamless red brass pipe, specifically alloy 230. This chrome plated red brass nipple is easier to machine, less brittle, and more corrosion resistant compared to yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water, heat, salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. It is primarily used for water applications in commercial plumbing and OEM settings but is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating facilitates easy cleaning, prevents dirt and bacteria accumulation, and maintains a shiny finish.
