The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/4 x 6 inches with NPT male threading and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, Alloy 230. These chrome plated red brass nipples are easier to machine, less brittle, and significantly more resistant to corrosion compared to yellow brass, as they do not dezincify. Brass provides excellent corrosion resistance from water and heat and withstands attack from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils present in water. This material is primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications but is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam use. Chrome plating ensures the nipples are easy to clean, resist dirt and bacteria accumulation, and maintain a shiny finish.
