The Merit chrome plated brass schedule 40 nipple measures 1/8 inch by close NPT male and is produced from seamless red brass pipe, designated as Alloy 230. This chrome plated red brass nipple is easier to machine, less brittle, and significantly more resistant to corrosion than yellow brass, as it will not dezincify. Brass provides good corrosion resistance against water and heat and withstands attacks from salt water, acids, minerals, and peaty soils found in water. It is primarily used for water in commercial plumbing and OEM applications, and is also suitable for oil, gas, and steam applications. The chrome plating on these brass nipples makes them easy to clean, prevents accumulation of dirt and bacteria, and helps maintain a polished, shiny finish.
