The VRTEX® 360 Compact is a small, portable virtual reality welding simulator designed for mobile use in multiple environments. It provides a life-like welding environment featuring a realistic puddle and actual welding sound to help welders learn to respond and adjust their welding technique, simulates sparks, slag, grinding, and weld cooling, and displays welding discontinuities when improper technique is applied. The virtual bend test offers instant results, revealing the causes of weld pass or fail outcomes. For reinforcement, the system includes demos of successful welds and replicates proper machine set-up using a welding procedure specification, requiring students to select gas type, process, gas flow, amperage/voltage, and wire-feed speed. The simulator tracks and scores key weld parameters such as work angle, travel angle, travel speed, distance, and position. Features include retractable SMAW stick stinger, GMAW/FCAW gun, GTAW TIG torch, filler metal, and adaptive foot pedal devices that realistically simulate the look, feel, and action of actual welding equipment. It supports practice in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead 5G and 6G welding on mild steel, aluminum, and stainless steel, with an extremely realistic weld puddle that is visually and audibly responsive to operator behavior. Demo, replay, and lesson modes assist instructors and welders in identifying successful or problematic techniques. The package includes one 22-inch custom touchscreen monitor, one VR headset, one VR welding device, one GMAW/FCAW MIG wire welding gun, one SMAW retractable stick stinger, one GTAW TIG torch and filler with adaptive foot pedal, seven welding coupons, one adjustable welding pole for welding positions 0°, 45°, and 90°, one adjustable table clamp, and one welding procedure specification.
