The kit features disposable Luer-Lok™ and pressure fittings ultrasonically bonded for reliability, with the filter media type clearly inscribed on the barrel for easy identification. It offers excellent unit-to-unit and lot-to-lot reproducibility and consistency, housed in high purity virgin polypropylene with no dyes or pigments added. Each unit type is available as an individually wrapped gamma sterilized pack. The unique concentric funnel-shaped barrel increases volume and decreases back pressure. The polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes are inherently hydrophobic, making them ideal for filtering nonpolar liquids and gases, with very high resistance to solvents, acids, and bases. They can be made more hydrophilic by flushing with alcohol followed by water and are used for filtering and de-gassing chromatography solvents, permitting optimal utilization of small sample volumes. The membranes exhibit excellent chemical compatibility for filtering harsh chemicals that would destroy other membrane materials and serve as a moisture barrier for venting applications and vacuum pump line protection. They are ideal for aerosol sampling and filtering viscous organic-based HPLC samples, and after pre-wetting with alcohol, may be used for fine particle removal of aqueous and mild organic solutions in ion chromatography.
