The kit includes disposable Luer-Lok™ and pressure fittings ultrasonically bonded for reliability, with filter media type clearly inscribed on the barrel to ensure excellent unit-to-unit and lot-to-lot reproducibility and consistency. It features a high purity virgin polypropylene housing with no dyes or pigments added. Each unit type is available as an individually wrapped gamma sterilized pack. The unique concentric funnel-shaped barrel increases volume and decreases back pressure. The polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) membranes, available in hydrophilic or hydrophobic forms, are inherently hydrophobic and ideal for filtering nonpolar liquids and gases. They exhibit high resistance to solvents, acids, and bases, and can be made more hydrophilic by flushing with alcohol followed by water. These membranes are used for filtering and de-gassing chromatography solvents, allowing optimal utilization of small sample volumes. They demonstrate excellent chemical compatibility for filtering harsh chemicals that destroy other membrane materials, provide a moisture barrier for venting applications and vacuum pump line protection, and are ideal for aerosol sampling. Additionally, they are suitable for filtering viscous organic-based HPLC samples and, after pre-wetting with alcohol, may be used for fine particle removal of aqueous and mild organic solutions in ion chromatography.
