The kit includes PTFE membranes that are inherently hydrophobic, making them ideal for the filtration of nonpolar liquids and gases. These membranes are highly resistant to solvents as well as acids and bases and can be made more hydrophilic by flushing with alcohol followed by water. They are used for filtering and de-gassing chromatography solvents, permitting optimal utilization of small sample volumes. The membranes offer excellent chemical compatibility for filtering harsh chemicals that can destroy other membrane materials. They serve as a moisture barrier for venting applications and vacuum pump line protection, and are ideal for aerosol sampling. Additionally, they are suitable for filtering viscous organic-based HPLC samples and, after pre-wetting with alcohol, can be used for fine particle removal of aqueous and mild organic solutions in ion chromatography.
