Whirlpool's through-the-wall air conditioner is compatible with standard wall sleeves and provides a permanent cooling solution for rooms not connected to a central system. This 10,000/9,800 BTU model cools areas up to 450 square feet and offers dehumidification at a rate of up to 1.2 pints per hour. It also includes 10,600/8,600 BTUs of supplemental heating ideal for early fall nights but not as a primary heat source in cold months. The unit features a programmable 24-hour timer to customize start and stop times, three cooling speeds, an Eco function that conserves energy by turning off the compressor when the desired temperature is reached, and a Sleep function for added comfort. Controls are electronic with an on-board panel and include a remote control for convenience. It requires a special 230-volt/20-amp electrical outlet and cannot operate on a standard 115V outlet. The package includes a universal interior trim kit for existing standard wall sleeves and offers multiple operating modes: cool, dry, fan, and auto.
