The Grade 1 heavy-duty surface door closer is designed for high-use environments such as schools and hospitals and includes a lifetime warranty. The standard package consists of the 5101 closer body, 5102 closer cover, 5103 main arm assembly, 5104 standard screw pack, 5909 parallel arm bracket, and the 5940 SNB screw pack suitable for 1-3/4" doors. This door closer is BHMA certified to ANSI A156.4, with adjustable sizes ranging from 2 to 6 by standard, and is ADA compliant to ANSI A117.1 accessibility code for adjustable sizes 1 to 4 as an option. It is UL/CUL listed for up to 3 hours, with UL10C positive pressure rated and UL10B neutral pressure rated. The door closer is made of cast iron, featuring a full plastic cover as standard or an optional plated metal cover. It includes a one-piece seamless steel spring tube with double heat-treated tempered springs, adjustable latching and sweep speed valves, and an adjustable backcheck valve as standard, with an optional delayed action valve. The unit is non-handed and offers a tri-pack of arms and brackets for regular, parallel arm, and top jamb mount as standard. It accommodates standard door thickness of 1-3/4" (44 mm) and optional thicknesses of 1-3/8" to 2-1/4" (36 mm to 57 mm). Fasteners include ALM, BRZ, DBZ, GOL, US3, US26, US26D with a rust inhibiting primer as standard. The system features full rack and pinion operation, precision machined components, a heat-treated steel piston, and a triple heat-treated steel spindle.
