The Laminated Aluminum Shim is constructed from 1100 series aluminum, with a composition of 1, type 1, class 2, and is fully laminated to enhance durability and precision. This product allows for on-site accuracy through its unique design that enables users to peel off layers to achieve the desired thickness. Precision Brand® laminated shims are manufactured using pressure and a resin/adhesive to bond the metal shims together, resulting in a rigid "one piece" structure that functions like a solid metal sheet or plate. Users can remove layers easily with a pocket knife, and the sheets can also be cut, sawed, stamped, milled, or bored to almost any configuration without compromising the integrity of the layers. The bonding adhesive ensures clean peeling without tearing or ripping, while the sheets maintain uniformity from edge to edge.
