The 3M™ Fiber Disc 982C measures 9-1/8" in diameter with a 7/8" arbor hole and features precision-shaped ceramic grain with 60+ grit, designed for applications such as edge chamfering, beveling, carbon steel weld removal, mill scale, pits and imperfection removal, and machining grooves. Utilizing proprietary 3M™ Cubitron™ II technology, the disc incorporates triangular shaped grains that are electrostatically oriented on a vulcanized fiber backing, creating sharp cutting peaks that slice through metal and continuously self-sharpen as grain points break off. This results in even wear, reduced friction heat, and up to twice the life of other fiber discs with less grinding pressure. The fiber backing is heavy-duty and stiff, providing resistance to wear for tough grinding applications including weld removal, grinding, blending large and small metal areas, high pressure grinding, and right angle grinding. The disc is primarily intended for metalworking industries such as metal fabrication, supporting tasks like edge beveling, chamfering, gate removal, and finishing.
