The 3M™ 982C fiber disc measures 5" x 7/8" and features precision shaped ceramic grain with an 80+ grit rating, making it ideal for various metal fabrication applications such as edge beveling, edge chamfering, gate removal, grinding, high pressure grinding, right angle grinding, weld removal, and finishing. This disc is particularly well-suited for edge chamfering, beveling, and the removal of carbon steel welds, mill scale, pits, imperfections, and machining grooves. The proprietary 3M™ Cubitron™ II technology utilizes ceramic abrasive grain and precision shaped grain technology to create triangular shaped grains that are electrostatically oriented on the backing, forming sharp peaks that maximize cutting potential. These peaks function as individual cutting tools, continuously self-sharpening as they break off, leading to even wear and self-sharpening properties that reduce heat due to friction, offering up to twice the lifespan of other fiber discs with less grinding pressure. The heavy-duty discs are designed with a tough, stiff backing made from vulcanized fiber to resist wear while handling demanding grinding applications.
