The 3M™ Fiber Disc 982C measures 9-1/8" in diameter with a 7/8" arbor hole and features precision-shaped ceramic grain with 80+ grit for high-performance abrasive applications. Designed primarily for metalworking, this fiber disc is ideal for edge beveling, edge chamfering, gate removal, grinding, high-pressure grinding, right angle grinding, weld removal, and finishing in metal fabrication industries. It utilizes proprietary 3M™ Cubitron™ II technology, combining ceramic abrasive grain with 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology that electrostatically orients triangular shaped grains to form sharp peaks for maximum cutting potential. These peaks slice through metal surfaces while self-sharpening and wearing evenly, reducing heat from friction and extending the disc’s life up to twice as long as other fiber discs with less grinding pressure. The heavy-duty fiber backing is made from vulcanized fiber, providing toughness and stiffness to resist wear and endure demanding grinding tasks such as removing carbon steel welds, mill scale, pits, imperfections, and machining grooves. This product is engineered to maximize productivity and minimize operator fatigue, outperforming conventional ceramic industrial abrasive discs in both cutting speed and durability.
