The 3M™ Cubitron™ II fibre disc quick change 987C features a 7" diameter and utilizes TN ceramic grain with 80+ grit, designed for use on nearly all metals with particular excellence on stainless steel and nickel alloys. It is ideal for applications such as weld removal, beveling, and removing mill scale, pits, and imperfections. This disc incorporates 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology, which generates a very high cut rate with less pressure, enabling faster finishing of tough tasks with reduced operator fatigue. A grinding aid included in the disc helps maintain a cooler temperature on stainless steel and heat-sensitive metals like nickel alloys and titanium, minimizing metal discoloration, oxidation, and heat-related stress cracks. The abrasive stays cooler and sharper longer than conventional ceramic grain discs, resulting in extended disc life and lower cost per grind with fewer disc changes. The discs employ ceramic abrasive grains formed into triangular structures electrostatically oriented on the backing to create sharp peaks that maximize cutting potential by slicing cleanly through metal and continuously self-sharpening as they wear.
