The 3M™ Cubitron™ II fibre disc quick change 982C is a 5" diameter disc featuring GL ceramic grain with 80+ grit. It is designed for edge chamfering, beveling, and removing carbon steel welds, mill scale, pits, imperfections, and machining grooves. Utilizing proprietary Cubitron™ II technology, the disc incorporates 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain and 3M precision shaped grain technology to produce triangular shaped grains that are electrostatically oriented on the backing, forming sharp peaks that maximize cutting potential. These peaks act as individual cutting tools that continuously self-sharpen by breaking off, allowing for even wear and reduced heat from friction. This results in up to twice the life of other fiber discs while requiring less grinding pressure. The disc is suitable for heavy-duty weld removal, grinding, and blending of metal surfaces, supported by a tough, stiff backing made from vulcanized fiber to resist wear during tough grinding applications. Typical applications include edge beveling, edge chamfering, gate removal, grinding, high pressure grinding, right angle grinding, weld removal, and finishing in metal fabrication industries.
