The 3M™ Cubitron™ II Fibre Disc Quick Change 982C has a 7-inch diameter and features GL ceramic grain with 80+ grit, designed for edge chamfering, beveling, and removing carbon steel welds, mill scale, pits, machining grooves, and other surface imperfections. The disc incorporates proprietary Cubitron™ II technology that uses 3M ceramic abrasive grain combined with precision shaped triangular grains electrostatically oriented on the backing to create sharp peaks for maximum cutting efficiency. These peaks function as individual cutting tools, slicing through metal while continuously self-sharpening as points break off, resulting in even wear, reduced heat due to friction, and up to twice the life compared to other fiber discs with less grinding pressure. The fiber disc’s robust vulcanized fiber backing withstands wear and supports heavy-duty grinding tasks such as weld removal, grinding, and blending large and small metal surface areas. Its applications include edge beveling, edge chamfering, gate removal, high-pressure grinding, right-angle grinding, and finishing in metal fabrication industries.
