The 3M™ Cubitron™ II Fibre Disc Quick Change 987C has a diameter of 7" and features GL ceramic grain with 60+ grit. It is suitable for use on almost all metals, excelling particularly in stainless steel and other nickel alloy applications. The disc is ideal for weld removal, beveling, removing mill scale, pits, and imperfections. Its 3M precision shaped grain provides an exceptionally high cut rate with less pressure, enabling faster completion of tough tasks with reduced operator fatigue. A grinding aid incorporated into the disc helps keep it cooler when used on stainless steel and heat-sensitive metals such as nickel alloys and titanium, which reduces metal discoloration, oxidation, and the risk of heat-related stress cracks. The abrasive stays cooler and sharper, resulting in significantly longer disc life compared to conventional ceramic grain discs, delivering lower cost per grind and fewer disc changes. The abrasive grain is formed into triangular structures and electrostatically oriented on the backing to create sharp peaks that maximize cutting potential by slicing cleanly through metal and continuously self-sharpening as the points wear off.
