3M™ Cubitron™ II Fibre Disc Quick Change 987C has a 7" diameter and features GL ceramic grain with 80+ grit, designed for use on almost all metals, excelling particularly in stainless steel and nickel alloy applications. The disc is ideal for weld removal, beveling, and removing mill scale, pits, and imperfections. It incorporates 3M precision shaped grain technology that generates a high cut-rate with less pressure, allowing operators to complete tough tasks faster and with less fatigue. A grinding aid embedded in the disc keeps it cooler on stainless steel and heat-sensitive metals such as nickel alloys and titanium, reducing metal discoloration, oxidation, and the risk of heat-related stress cracks. This cooling effect also helps the abrasive remain sharper and last significantly longer than conventional ceramic grain discs, resulting in lower cost per grind and fewer disc changes. The 3M precision shaped grain is created by forming ceramic abrasive grains into triangular structures, which are electrostatically oriented on the backing to form sharp peaks that maximize cutting potential by slicing cleanly through metal and self-sharpening as points break off.
