The 3M™ Flap Disc 577F measures 7 inches in diameter with a 7/8 inch arbor size, featuring alumina zirconia abrasive mineral in 36 grit for tough grinding applications where final finish is important. The disc consists of overlapping, fiber-reinforced flaps coated with abrasive material that continually wear away during use to expose fresh abrasive mineral, providing a fast, consistent cut and a finish typically one grade finer than the disc’s grit. The flap disc includes a grinding aid to reduce grinding temperatures when working with heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. Designed for use on a right angle grinder, the giant size flap disc retains the standard 7-inch diameter but offers wider flaps packed with 25% more abrasive material than standard discs, resulting in a more aggressive cut and extended life. These three-dimensional discs function as a one-step alternative to bonded wheels and fiber discs by grinding and finishing in a single operation, saving time and costs. The flexible flaps allow effective grinding that follows curves and contours with less gouging, enhancing operator comfort.
