The 3M™ Flap Disc 577F measures 7 inches in diameter with a 7/8-inch arbor and features a T27 type design with alumina zirconia abrasive mineral in 60 grit. It is ideal for tough grinding applications where a fine final finish is important, as the overlapping layers of abrasive-coated, fiber-reinforced flaps wear away to expose fresh mineral for a fast, consistent cut while cushioning the surface to create a blended finish. The flap disc incorporates a grinding aid to reduce temperatures during processes involving heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. Designed for use on right angle grinders, this giant size flap disc maintains the same diameter as standard discs but includes wider flaps, providing extra-thick layers with 25% more abrasive material for a more aggressive cut and longer life. The 3M flap discs grind and finish in a single step, generating a finish one grade finer than a fiber disc of the same grade, and their flexible construction allows them to follow curves and contours with less gouging, improving operator comfort. Typical applications include blending, deburring, edge beveling, finishing, polishing, weld grinding, rust removal, and weld seam blending in metal fabrication.
