The 3M™ Flap Disc 577F Giant measures 7" in diameter with a 7/8" arbor size and T27 shape, featuring alumina zirconia abrasive mineral in 36 grit. Designed for tough grinding applications where the final finish is important, the disc’s overlapping, fiber-reinforced flaps continually wear away to expose fresh abrasive mineral for a fast, consistent cut while cushioning the finish for a blended result. The flap disc typically produces a finish one grade finer than the disc’s grit, reducing finishing steps. It includes a grinding aid that lowers grinding temperatures, making it suitable for heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. Used on a right angle grinder, the Giant flap disc has the same diameter as standard discs but features wider flaps packed with 25% more abrasive material, allowing a more aggressive cut and longer life. This three-dimensional grinding disc offers a one-step alternative to bonded wheels and fiber discs by grinding and finishing simultaneously, following curves and contours with less gouging and enhanced operator comfort. Ideal for applications including weld grinding, deburring, rust removal, edge grinding, weld seam blending, blending, edge beveling, finishing, polishing, and metal fabrication, it provides durability and efficiency. The product complies with relevant industry standards and certifications, and under normal conditions, the flap disc provides a finish one grade finer than fiber discs of the same grit.
