The 3M™ Flap Disc 577F measures 7" x 5/8"-11 and features a T29 backing with alumina zirconia abrasive at 36 grit. It is designed for tough grinding applications where the final finish is important, utilizing overlapping layers of abrasive-coated, fiber-reinforced flaps that wear away to expose fresh abrasive mineral for a fast, consistent cut with a blended finish. The flap disc generates a finish one grade finer than the disc grit, reducing finishing steps. A grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures, making it suitable for heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. This flap disc fits on a right-angle grinder and comes in a giant size with the same diameter as standard discs but wider flaps, which provide extra-thick layers packed with 25% more abrasive material, resulting in a more aggressive cut and longer life. The flap discs offer flexibility for following curves and contours, minimizing gouging and enhancing operator comfort. Applications include weld grinding, deburring, rust removal, edge grinding, weld seam blending, blending, edge beveling, finishing, polishing, and metal fabrication using right-angle grinding.
