The 3M™ Flap Disc 577F measures 7 inches in diameter with a 5/8-11 threaded arbor and features T29 zirconia alumina abrasive mineral in 60 grit for tough grinding applications where a fine final finish is important. The overlapping layers of abrasive-coated, fiber-reinforced flaps continually wear away during use, exposing fresh abrasive material to provide a fast, consistent cut while the cushioning flaps create a blended finish that is typically one grade finer than the disc grit. A grinding aid incorporated into the disc reduces grinding temperatures, making it suitable for heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. Designed for use on right angle grinders, the giant size flap discs offer the same diameter as standard discs but with wider flaps, increasing abrasive material by 25% for a more aggressive cut and longer life. The flap discs are three-dimensional and allow grinding and finishing in a single step, reducing finishing steps and improving operator comfort by minimizing gouging and allowing flexibility to follow curves and contours.
