The 3M™ Flap Disc 577F measures 7" in diameter with a 7/8" arbor and features a T29 backing made from alumina zirconia abrasive with an 80 grit rating. It is designed for tough grinding applications where the final finish is important, offering overlapping abrasive-coated, fiber-reinforced flaps that continually wear to expose fresh mineral for a fast, consistent cut and a blended finish. The flap disc generates a finish one grade finer than its grit, reducing finishing steps, and includes a grinding aid to lower temperatures for heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, and titanium. Intended for use with right angle grinders, its giant size retains the 7" diameter of standard discs but has wider flaps with 25% more abrasive material for a more aggressive cut and longer life. The disc combines grinding and finishing functions, serving as a one-step alternative to bonded wheels and fiber discs, with flexibility to follow curves and contours, less gouging, and enhanced operator comfort. It is suitable for applications including weld grinding, deburring, rust removal, edge grinding, and weld seam blending and is commonly used in metal fabrication for blending, deburring, edge beveling, finishing, and polishing. The product includes standard certification and complies with relevant industrial safety standards. A warranty is provided under normal conditions, covering manufacturing defects as per 3M’s terms and policies.
